I am so in love with this show. I would call it a guilty pleasure, but I feel no guilt in it at all.
This week, the girls of Kappa House found the Red Devil’s lair and the Red Devil found some new victims in a replica of the maze from The Shining.
This episode was awash in homages from The Shining to The Silence of the Lambs. Normally, this kind of stuff annoys me, but it was done with such genuine love and care in “Pumpkin Patch” that the charm of it all outweighed any irritation I might have felt.
While every episode of Scream Queens has been a lot of fun, there wasn’t a whole lot of development this week and, you know what? That’s okay. Scream Queens can pull it off because it’s all about energy and humor whereas something like Heroes can come along and have a filler episode and it’s like someone is stabbing you in the eye with an infected toenail. I guess that’s one of the things I love about this show… even when it’s doing next to nothing with its overall story, it’s still gloriously over the top and entertaining enough to keep it interesting regardless.
Scream Queens may not be top-notch television, overly witty, or incredibly intelligent, but it is consistent in its delivery and energy and that alone keeps me coming back every week.
