🏚️ 31 Spooky Movies of Halloween: House IV (1992) 🏚️

Ah yes, House IV — the sequel nobody asked for, to a movie that absolutely deserved better. This time around, the franchise that once gave us haunted hijinks, clever scares, and campy fun delivers… a talking pizza, mobsters, and the cinematic equivalent of lukewarm bathwater.

House IV tries to follow in the footsteps of the 1985 cult classic House, but somewhere along the way it trips, falls down the stairs, and forgets why it came in the room to begin with. William Katt returns briefly, then checks out faster than the audience’s attention span, leaving behind a haunted house story that’s got none of the wit, charm, or weird creativity of the original.

Instead, we get a half-hearted ghost story, a plot about land developers, and scenes that feel like they were written during a power outage. It’s not scary, it’s not funny — it’s just there. And yet, in that glorious trainwreck way only early ’90s horror can deliver, it’s kind of fascinating to watch. Like finding an old VHS labeled “DO NOT WATCH” and immediately pressing play.

💀 Why this might be the quietest, most confusing ghost story ever put on film

It’s clunky, it’s weirdly sanitized, and it feels like it was shot inside a waiting room. But hey — sometimes the bad ones make for the best laughs.
