In it, the great George C Scott plays a writer who, after an unimaginable tragedy, self-exiles to a remote manor to work on his novel but, while there, he discovers that he’s not alone and that this strange paranormal force compels him to solve a decades-old mystery.

The Changeling is a very slow, thoughtful, and confident movie that takes its time getting to where it’s going. While the pacing could be seen as glacial, it’s also very deliberate and George C Scott’s acting talents manages to fill the void.

But, when the story gets going, the atmosphere gets heavier, the story more compelling, and the scares… scarier.

By the time the movie reaches its climax, you’ll see that The Changeling is a true horror classic and more than deserving of its place in our 31 Spooky Movies of Halloween!
