There is an emptiness to the World Trade Center memorial in New York. Although you are surrounded by people, buildings, and presided over by the absolutely monstrous One World Trade Center, the area seems devoid… something is missing.
It’s strange to me as this was my first visit to the area. I’ve never personally seen a New York with the Twin Towers and, who knows… perhaps it’s just the oddity of seeing so much open space and so much sky above outside of Central Park.
Something is missing. Nothing is in that empty sky and that nothing weighs on you heavier than anything you’ve ever felt before the whole time you are there.
