If you had told me 10 years ago that I would sit through an Aquaman movie and have a genuinely good time doing it, I would have said you were crazy. But, here we are… I’ve sat through an Aquaman movie and had a genuinely good time doing so.

Now, personally, I couldn’t give a rat’s rear about the DC Cinematic Universe. It’s a cluster fudge of epic proportions and I honestly don’t see it becoming anything near what Marvel has done. What I do care about it’s just seeing a decent movie about a superhero and that’s exactly what Aquaman does and it does it very well.

Jason Momoa has so much charisma that this movie could have been about Lagoon Boy and he could have carried it. Jason Momoa is just a bro. He is extremely likeable and someone that you want to root for. I mean, come on… The first time I remember seeing him in anything he was a barbarian rapist and, somehow, I still liked the guy. If Jason Momoa and The Rock made a movie together I honestly think that the combined charisma would probably kill the audience.

Aquaman is the type of movie that you don’t see very often. This film is beautiful on the level of Avatar. It’s bright, colorful, magical… It takes you, literally, to another world and it’s a world that is just breathtaking. The undersea portions of Aquaman are amazing. Simply amazing.

Well the pacing of this movie present somewhat of an issue, Aquaman is a rousingly enjoyable superhero romp that embraces the goofiness of its source material and runs with it. This movie is incredibly self aware and does not give a single simple damn. I loved it. I loved every single solitary unapologetically goofy moment of this movie. I know it’s not perfect, but it is a whole lot of fun and, honestly, isn’t that what film is supposed to be about? Seeing things that you’ve never seen before and having fun doing it?
