“Death Doesn’t Let You Say Goodbye” is ‘Sense8’s Most Slow and Boring Episode Yet

I’m afraid that watching this show has become about as enjoyable as taking out the trash or vacuuming the rug.  It’s become more of a chore than a leisure and, after two episodes of barely any movement on the plot with the most dour and depressing moments we’ve seen on the show, I’m dying for something to actually happen worth nothing.

“Death Doesn’t Let You Say Goodbye” is perhaps the most slow and boring episode of the show so far.  I understand that Sense8 does not have a huge budget for an action scene every episode, but for goodness sake, this show has got to find some sort of emotional balance.  It’s becoming simply unpleasant.

Listen, I think that Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s “The Body,” where Buffy came home and found her mother dead, is one of the most amazing hours of television ever assembled but every episode cannot be “The Body” and it’s about time that Sense8 realizes this.

Watching this episode is like watching an hour of pure depression.  Lito and Riley take up the most of it and both of them spend almost the entire episode crying.  Riley, mourning her husband and learning more about being a sensate in another convenient information dump and Lito reenacting that painful sequence in Twilight where Bella cries and screams because her boyfriend isn’t around.

There is an interesting twist revealed about Jonas’ motivations, but it is buried in all of the baggage and has no lasting resonance.   Capheus has, what I believe, the best scene as he optimistically remembers the saddest moment of his life and, in 60 seconds, accomplishes what the other stories fail to do in 60 minutes.

I’m becoming bored with this show.  If I was not to close to the end, I would have given up by now.
