Join me on this gloriously unhinged road trip through the middle of nowhere — aka the *Dalton Highway*, also known by its more dramatic nickname: **The Haul Road**, because apparently “Your Tires Will Regret This” was too on-the-nose. In this hypnotic 20+ minute time lapse, you’ll witness my three-day odyssey from **Fairbanks to Deadhorse, Alaska** — and yes, I turned around and came back, because Deadhorse isn’t exactly a resort town.
The Dalton Highway is 414 miles of pure gravel-flavored chaos, stretching from Fairbanks to the Arctic Ocean and designed for one purpose: to make you question your life choices. Originally built in 1974 to support the Trans-Alaska Pipeline (which you’ll see snaking alongside the road like a giant metal noodle), the Dalton is infamous for its remoteness, giant trucks, and the lingering scent of regret.
Along the way, I crossed the **Arctic Circle**, dodged potholes deep enough to qualify as minor lakes, and communed with enough mosquitos to be declared their new king. Deadhorse — which sounds like a warning and not a destination — was the turnaround point, and then it was all the same road again… but somehow bumpier on the way back.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to drive across the surface of a cold, rugged moon while being followed by 18-wheelers carrying suspiciously large pipes — this is the video for you. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the desolate beauty of Alaska in fast-forward.
