In this episode of *Travels With Jason*, I stumble into Watson Lake, Yukon—a town best known for its massive collection of stolen property politely referred to as the “Sign Post Forest.” Yes, folks, it’s a forest made entirely of signs. Not trees. Signs. Literal thousands of them, nailed up by travelers from around the world who thought, “You know what this roadside pullout needs? My license plate.”
I take you on a tour of this chaotic display of international confusion, where you can find everything from German speed limit signs to someone’s mailbox from Iowa. I attempt to locate my own hometown in the madness, fail miserably, and question the life choices that brought me to a forest where the most common language is “mildly lost tourist.”
Why does it exist? Who started it? Can you add your own sign? (Yes, and people do. Constantly. It’s a hardware store’s dream and a city planner’s nightmare.)
So join me as I wander through this bizarre Yukon landmark, pretend I understand its charm, and resist the urge to nail up a “Do Not Enter” sign for future generations.
